Leah Schmutter

BA Psych, Clinical Herbalist & Holistic Nutritionist

I’m Leah — a Clinical Herbalist and Holistic Nutritionist based in Victoria, BC. My work weaves together traditional herbal medicine and holistic nutrition to support the body’s natural capacity for healing.

In my practice, I take a whole - person approach that looks beyond symptoms to uncover the root causes of illness. I focus on key foundations of health — nourishment, digestion, blood sugar balance, sleep, and stress resilience — to support lasting change.

Beyond my practice, I love cooking, exploring nature, camping, and dancing. I’m driven by a passion for helping people live well, feel empowered in their health, and embrace wellness as a joyful, sustainable part of life.

My Journey into Holistic Health

My path to this work hasn’t been linear. I first studied psychology, drawn to understanding the mind, emotional health, and what truly helps us heal. After graduating in 2015, I found myself in the kitchen — baking sourdough bread and partnering with a local organic farm to provide bread for their CSA boxes. That experience sparked a realization that food is one of our greatest medicines, and that sharing this knowledge can empower others to care for themselves. This curiosity led me to explore herbal medicine, where I fell in love with the intelligence of plants — how they work in relationship with the body to restore balance and vitality. Over time, I came to see how beautifully herbal medicine and nutrition complement one another: many foods are medicines, and many herbs are, in essence, foods. Both offer profound ways to support healing at the roots.
